On November 15, 2007 Faith Connections hosted a Young Adult Ministry Networking event that brought together a diverse mix of religious, educational, private, non-profit and media participants.

Together we shared our experiences of young adult ministry and dialogued about the ever-changing needs of 18 – 39 year olds.

Counted among the success of the evening were:

• Learning Opportunities : to learn about new young adult ministries. Those present heard about at least one ministry they had not yet encountered.

May its ever-greenness be a sign of life and of light in the midst of the darkness of Winter. May the candles that burn brightly upon it remind us of Your Son, Jesus, who is the light of the world.

As we light each of these candles this Advent, may we rekindle within ourselves the desire to prepare the way for the birth of Christ.

Week 1

The Newman Centre, at the heart of the University of Toronto, was the perfect venue for the Tap on Tour event held on November 13th, as it was both easy and welcoming.

For the topic, Choosing Life-In All Its Meaning, we were graced by the Sisters of Life; Sr. Antoniana, Sr. Clare, & Sr. Monica, who have vowed to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life.

Hi, my name is Gadjo Sevilla. I am the newest member of the CSJ Young Adult Ministry team; I have recently started as Faith Connections’ Administrative and Communications Coordinator. I will be supporting Sr. Thérèse Meunier and Vanessa Nicholas and I am quite excited to be a part of Faith Connections. I look forward to serving the community in the coming months and meeting many of you during events.

Yesterday evening the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto and York Catholic Chaplaincy hosted Tap on Tour at the Cock'n'Bull Pub, York University.  Fr. Damian MacPherson, director of Ecumenism and Interfaith Affairs for the Archdioceses of Toronto, shared his insights on "Ecumenism Then and Now."  

The question "No Salvation Outside the Church?" is difficult to answer because it requires a long historical examination of theology with implications for the way today's Catholics interact with people of other faiths. Fr. Dias asked us to consider that since God desires all to find salvation, God will give all people sufficient grace. This grace moves all people closer to salvation by helping us communicate together in four ways:

Dominican Friar Darren Dias spoke to more than 60 young people about inter-faith at the September 26th Faith Connections Theology on Tap held at the Duke of York Pub in Toronto.
