Prep Session: Young Adult Mission Trip

The University of Toronto Scarborough Catholic Chaplaincy, Centennial Chaplaincy and Newman Centre Catholic Chaplaincy, in collaboration with the St. Barnabas Young Adults will be organizing a mission trip to Kingston, Jamaica to work with the Missionaries of the Poor. While in Jamaica, we will assist the Missionary of the Poor Brothers with caring for the poor at their orphanage and their homes for the mentally and physically challenged. In addition to serving through pastoral care, we will help with cleaning, feeding people, administrative tasks, and other duties as needed.

Departure: ​6:30 am on Monday, April 29, 2019
Arrival:​ 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019

COST: The cost of the trip is ​$1005.00​. The flights are confirmed at $730.00 CAD return, however there is a fee of $275 CAD (or 200 USD) per person that is given directly to the Brothers to cover the cost of our stay. At the time of application, a $200 ​non-refundable​ deposit is required to secure your spot. The balance of $530 is due at either of the preparation sessions on March 13 or 14, or anytime before that date. Payment for the $275 accommodation donation can be made by cash only, and must be brought with you to the airport.

Deadline to register is MARCH 12.

There will be two identical preparation sessions on ​Wednesday, March 13, 2019​ (at St. Barnabas in Scarborough) and ​Thursday, March 14, 2019​ (at the Newman Centre) from 7-9 pm.
