Youth Teams of Our Lady (YTOL) in Canada - May retreat 2017

Event Date:
Friday, May 19, 2017 - 7:00pm

Youth Teams of Our Lady (YTOL) in Canada is a Catholic youth movement where young people between the ages of 18-30 can get together to pray and deepen their faith. It’s a group of people who you can relate to, and who are often going through the same things you are in their lives.

There’s always a group or a retreat that you can go to for spiritual support, whether you’re in high school, university, or working and in your career. Together we can move through this time of our lives with Christ and His mother Mary, developing a more meaningful spiritual life and discovering our vocation.

This May, YTOL will be hosting a young adult retreat entitled, "The Universal Call to Holiness: Vocations (Purposeful Singlehood, Religious Discernment, and Marriage)” and will be led by our very special guest PATRICK SULLIVAN, alongside YTOL’s very own, Father Paul.

One thing many of us struggle with is finding a purpose - our purpose - but most importantly, dedicating our lives completely to God and accepting His ultimate plan for us. Only then may we understand the true reason for our existence in this very moment in time. If you are constantly asking yourself “Why am I here?”… This year’s retreat might just be the answer to your prayers.

The purpose of life is devotional service of God, but the real purpose of any vocation is to love our neighbor just as Jesus loves us. No matter what version of the human vocation you are called for, there is one thing they all have in common, and that is to love and serve God, and become one with him in Christ.

Your vocation is where you will learn to let go of your questions, carry the cross of your problems, and be mysteriously fulfilled even when you are not happy. We have some choice as to how we will undergo that process; we do not – so long as we abide in the grace of God – get to choose whether we will undergo it. This, it seems to me, is the attitude we should bring to discernment. I am not choosing between makes and models in a store, looking for the perfect fit or the best value. One is faced, rather, with the question: How I should lose my life, in order to save it? (Luke 9:24)

On behalf of this year's Moderators, Lukasz Jach and Basia Majcherczyk, we are ecstatic about this upcoming retreat and genuinely encourage you to connect with us this May long weekend as we journey closer towards our relationship with Christ and the plan He has for our lives!
