What is the Food Family Faith Weekend?

The Food, Family Faith weekend is a retreat experience in a family atmosphere that is centred in Jesus and Catholic Social Teaching (i.e. human dignity, the option for the poor, the sacredness of creation and solidarity).
The program (shared meals, fun and educational activities, guest speakers, group discussion, music and liturgy) aims to help families cultivate a sense of service that is rooted in justice and love. In this way we seek to become a stronger family of faith that contributes to the common good, both locally and globally.

Where is the Food, Family, Faith Weekend being held?

The weekend will be hosted at Camp Brebeuf in Rockwood, ON. The address is 8434 Brebeuf Path (Wellington Rd. 27). Rockwood, ON. N0B 2K0. For accurate GPS directions, please use 8434 Brebeuf Path.

What is the cost of the weekend and what does that cost include?

The cost per family is $175. This includes your meals for the weekend plus basic sleeping accommodations (i.e. tent grounds or rustic cabins). It also includes use of the facilities – washrooms, all low-risk recreational activities, eating hall, etc. Modern cabins available at an additional cost.

Is this weekend only open to families?

No. We welcome all individuals, families, single parent families, young and old, teens and children, nuns and priests, those with special needs, or anybody who wishes to experience a fun-filled weekend in a family atmosphere centred in Jesus and Catholic Social Teaching.

Do I need my own tent? What if I do not want to sleep in a tent?

No. While we encourage participants to use tents if they wish, the use of rustic cabins will be available for use as well. Rustic cabins include four bunk beds and do not have running water. Cabin accommodations that include water are available at an additional cost. Priority access to all cabins will be given to the elderly, pregnant mothers or mothers with infants, or those with special needs. If you do not own a tent but wish to use one, please let us know and we will make an effort to find a tent you can use.

Are there washroom facilities?

Yes. Washroom facilities are located in the middle of the main campground, close to the rustic cabins.

I am not a Christian. Can I still come?

Yes! While the weekend is centred in the Christian faith, we welcome all people who are interested.

I have food allergies/sensitivities. Can this be accommodated?

The Camp Brebeuf kitchen are very well prepared to accommodate any such requests made in advance (just let us know!). Camp Brebeuf is a nut-aware facility – nut products are not allowed on the grounds and are confiscated on sight but the Camp cannot guarantee a nut-free experience.
