What is the Food, Family, Faith Weekend?
The Food, Family Faith weekend is a retreat experience in a family atmosphere that is centred in Jesus and Catholic Social Teaching (e.g. human dignity, the option for the poor, the sacredness of creation and solidarity). The program (shared meals, fun and educational activities, guest speakers, group discussion, music and liturgy) aims to help people cultivate a sense of service that is rooted in justice and love. In this way we seek to become a stronger family of faith that contributes to the common good, both locally and globally.
What is the Farm Visit?
For those families that wish, there is an optional farm visit at no extra cost on Friday to Willo’Wind farm which is a 20 minute drive from the retreat location at Regina Mundi. The purpose of the farm visit is to pick and gather some of the food that will be used for meals over the course of the weekend.
Is this weekend only open to families?
No. We welcome individuals, families, single parent families, young and old, teens and children, nuns and priests, those with special needs, or anybody who wishes to experience a fun-filled weekend in a family atmosphere centred in Jesus and Catholic Social Teaching.
Can I bring a tent-trailer instead of a regular tent?
Yes. There is an additional fee of $20.00 for tent-trailers and there is no electrical hook-up.
What if I do not want to sleep in a tent or if I do not own a tent?
There are 17 rooms available (with priority given to the elderly, pregnant mothers or mothers with infants, or those with special needs) in Villa St. Joseph complete with bathroom and shower facilities. The rooms are an additional $35 a night based on double occupancy.
If you do not own a tent but wish to use one, please let us know and we will make an effort to find a tent you can use.
I am not a Christian. Can I still come?
Yes! While the weekend is centred in the Christian faith, we welcome all people who are interested in the Food Family Faith weekend.
