Event Date:
Friday, October 18, 2013 - 12:00pm - Sunday, October 20, 2013 - 12:00am

Join the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco at their Discernment Program for Young Adults. This program consists of 8 Formative Sessions- 2 weekends and 6 Saturdays. The purpose of these sessions is to help Young Adults • to grow in the discovery of their own identity, one created by God in His own image. (Gen 1:27) • in order to be better equipped to understand the meaning and purpose of their existence and hence, discern better their vocation and mission in the plan of God. Through a series of eight encounters, young adults develop their understanding of their vocation as primarily, an ongoing dialogue between the self who lives in a given context, the self that grows, seeks, suffers, questions, judges and chooses and God, the Trinity who loves them and designed their existence. It is God who calls, accompanies, prepares and equips them to respond to this love with generosity and to live the present moment in the ordinary circumstances of their life with courage, creativity and with readiness to share God's love and and serve others as Jesus did for His Church. Components of the Program:
In a combination of group settings, individual accompaniment sessions, personal prayer and reflection, the DIA discernment experience invites participants to initiate the process of looking through the contents of their “Backpack of Life”; the accumulation of their experiences of joys, pains, disappointments, sacrifices, love, acquired knowledge, role models and influences, habits, choices and patterns of responses. The participants are then introduced to a variety of tools and resources which aid them in sifting through and identifying some of the ‘materials’ in their “Backpack of Life” including their own uniqueness, gifts, strengths, weaknesses, potential areas of conversion and calls to love which become the ‘holy ground’ wherein God speaks to reveal His mercy and love, a love that needs a response for the needs of His people. “I came that you may have life, life to the full (John 10:10). Hence, the discovery and deepening of one’s particular vocation to love God and serve others then take shape and is pursued with greater conviction, freedom, joy and commitment.
