Jesuit Volunteers Canada (JVC)

Event Date:
Thursday, June 28, 2012 (All day)

JVC is now accepting applications for full time volunteers starting Sept 2012.

Jesuit Volunteers Canada is a one year full time opportunity for young people to live out their faith by doing justice, living simply and in community with their peers. In its inaugural year, all placements will be based at Anishinabe Spiritual Centre in Espanola, ON. The centre is a community called by Christ, inspired by the Jesuit tradition and Native culture and spirituality. Through their spiritual formation centre, a place of hospitality for all, they serve to nourish a relationship with God,to build up the Native church and to care for the earth. In the second year of JVC, we hope to expand to include a community in Toronto and in Guelph.

While the specific responsibilities will be developed on-site based on the needs of the centre community and the skills of the JV, opportunities may include

Facilitating native-non native cross cultural experiences for youth
Working with youth
Teaching, Literacy, Coaching
Community development and social analysis
Ecological education and practices

Term: September 2012 - July 2013
Location: Anishinabe Spiritual Centre, Espanola, ON
Cost: There is no cost to the JV. Room and board and a small stipend will be provided.
There will be opportunity for faith conversations and spiritual development as well as retreats during the year. Application deadline: Rolling deadline. Priority will be given to applications received before June 28, 2012

This community event is not affiliated with Faith Connections, but we believe it to be of specific interest to young adults aged 18-39 and with a faith-based or social justice theme. However, we can be mistaken — if you're not sure this event will meet your expectations, please check with the event organizers.
