THEOLOGY ON TAP: Icons of Christ, Mary and the Nativity

Special guest: Jaroslav Skira, professor of Eastern Christianity, Regis College.

An exploration of the different types and traditions of the icons of Christ and Mary in Byzantine and Slavic Christianity, with a discussion of their symbolism, colours and meaning. In preparation for Advent and Christmas, a few icons of the Nativity will also be discussed. Small colour handouts will be provided.

Prof. Jaroslav Skira teaches history and Eastern Christianity at Regis College (in the University of Toronto). He has also taught for St. Michael's College (Toronto) and St. Paul's University (Ottawa), and the Ukrainian Catholic University (Ukraine).
