Out of the Cold Cooking Team

For more than 17 years, St. Patrick’s Parish in Toronto, Ontario has been the host of “Out of the Cold” on Sunday nights, feeding over 350 people, and providing overnight shelter to up to 80 men and women.

Currently, St. Patrick’s Out of the Cold operates on Sunday nights from about November until the beginning of April, providing shelter, food, immediate first aid, and clothing to our welcomed guests.

RYVM invites young men and women to be involved in the Out of the Cold Ministry by being part of a monthly cooking team.

We begin our day around 10:00 AM in the Church Hall with Mass, followed by meal preparations for the Sunday Dinner. We usually wrap up after 3:00 PM, while some stay to help with final preparations and organizing the servers to serve the main meal. Our focus for our Mass that day is around social justice and giving ourselves to service to our homeless guests who come in to share this meal with us.

This year, our cooking dates are December 5, 2010 and January 30, 2011

To find out more, or to become part of a cooking team on those dates, please contact Fr. Santo Arrigo C.Ss.R. at Redeemer House.

For general volunteering information about the program, please consult the St. Patrick’s Website.
