Language at Work: Speaking of Religion & Spirituality
With Robert Barlow, LL.B

Tuesday, November 10, 2009
7:30 – 9:30 pm
At the Toronto Grace, near Yonge & Bloor, Toronto
Earlybird fee: Tuesday Nov 3, 2009

Tonight, take part in a conversation with an expert about how to have conversations that matter at work. Religious and spiritual beliefs and values directly affect our daily actions and interactions. But we are often afraid to ask questions about a co-worker's religious practices and perspectives … or explain our own! What are the meanings of certain terms used by people of different faith backgrounds? How can religion and spirituality be discussed in an informative and enriching way, without crossing the line in the workplace? Do join us and bring your own questions and stories.

Robert Barlow, LL.B is a journalist with the CBC's National Radio Newsroom in Toronto. In a career that has spanned 30 years he has worked for The Canadian Press, CTV, Global-TV and written a column on religion for The London Free Press. Rob has studied and written much about different faiths and the impact of religion on people and events, as well as taking part in efforts to promote inter-faith dialogue and understanding. Of course, his choice of language when speaking about religion and spirituality has become intrinsic in Rob's own work. Reach Rob at
