Soup for the Soul
The goal of Soup for the Soul is to assist young adults to make a connection beteen faith and studies/work/life while enjoying FREE home-made soup! October is a month filled with earth connections such as harvest, thanksgiving and "Waste reduction week (October 15-19). These will be reflected in our topics for Soup for the Soul.
Thursday October 4th: Ethical Eating: Cooking out of the Box - join a proffessional cook for an interactive workshop where you will learn new recipes, cooking techniques, and how to include more fruits and vegetables in your meals. Discuss key issues related to food such as the “organic vs local debate” (Guest speaker: Janet Armstrong, FOODSHARE)
Thursday October 11th: Holy Cows! ((A film by Salt & Light television) - Buy a cow and provide the basic needs of life – milk, meat and fertilizer – for the parishes in Uganda. Discussion about the evolution of the concept of charity within the Catholic Church.
Thursday October 18th: Worms; Angels of the Earth - Join Cathy's Crawly Composters for a hands-on, inspirational workshop on the wonder of worms. This is your opportunity to learn everything you ever wanted to know about composting with worms from set-up, to harvest. Explore environmental issues and learn the basics of worm biology.
