Conference: Practical Ethics in Home-Based Care

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of St. Elizabeth Health Care, the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute is pleased to host "Practical Ethics in Home-Based Care: A Conference in Honour of St. Elizabeth Health Care on Its 100th Anniversary."

This day-long conference, to be held November 6, 2008 on the University of Toronto Campus, will be of interest to anyone involved in home care: nurses, physicians, personal support workers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians.

Dr. Mary Vachon, recipient of the 2008 Life-Time Achievement Award of the International Journal of Palliative Nursing, is the Keynote Speaker.

Interactive workshops will be offered on such issues as:
• mental health and crisis management in home care;
• cross cultural issues in home care;
• spirituality and home-based care;
• the family as context in home care.

A multi-disciplinary panel will address the topic, "The Ethics of Delivery of Care in Difficult Situations."
