Advent: Wake up! Begin again!

When the Faith Connections team gathered this afternoon to plan our upcoming programs, we reflected and prayed about the words of Pope Francis and Mary, the mother of God.

“You must not resign yourselves to the monotony of everyday life, but rather cultivate broad-ranging plans, go beyond the ordinary; do not allow yourselves to be robbed of your youthful enthusiasm! It would also be a mistake to allow yourselves to be imprisoned by the weak and uniform thought, that which conforms, or indeed by a globalization understood as uniformity.” — Pope Francis, Nov 30, 2013

Advocating for the Truth

Michelle Henry, partner at the Toronto corporate law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, spoke to a packed house at Theology on Tap on November 25, 2013.

Michelle’s talk — "Living Your Faith in the Corporate World" — focused on how to balance the needs of our economic world and career with our spiritual needs.

Inviting God on your journey

"Discernment of God's will is never a simple and easy task. Prayer is key and vital." These were the words of Bishop Vincent Nguyen to over 100 young adults gathered for the launch of Theology on Tap East held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Scarborough.

Finding consolation in desolation

The Faith Connections Hike and Prayer on November 9, 2013 looked at the desolation and the consolation that we can find in the environment: desolation in the contamination of nature and consolation in the beauty. The hike took us through a cemetery and then onto the Beltline Trail to the Evergreen Brick Works. What struck me throughout the hike was how we can find moments of consolation among the desolation.
