A new phase of our journey...

As Vanessa prepares to go on maternity leave, please join us in welcoming our new Interim Program Director, John-Paul. Below they both share their thoughts on the year ahead...

Note from Vanessa:

Thank you for rejoicing with Michael, Liam, and I as we joyfully await the birth of our new baby. I feel blessed by you, the Faith Connections community. Together we seek to experience and in turn share the love of Christ in the world.

I look forward to returning to Faith Connections in October 2015. But don’t worry, I won’t be a stranger! The Faith Connections community and programming is too great to stay away. So I look forward to seeing you soon. Blessings on your continued journeys…

Note from John-Paul:

Hi, I’m John-Paul Markides.

So what can I say about myself? I studied theology, and yearn to make it more accessible to everyone. I feel faith is not something you find in a book; it is found in relationship with God and one another.

I have been doing youth and young adult ministry for a few years now and really feel like I have something to give. I love collaborating on events and I welcome all the ideas you may have to help us share our faith. I look forward to meeting all of you; if you ever want to go for coffee and just chat about life, I’m all in.

I will be using the same e-mail address and phone number as Vanessa — so I can be reached at: faithconnections@csj-to.ca or 416-467-2645.

Beginning a new phase of our journey...

At our first team meeting with John-Paul, our Ministry Director, Sr. Mechtilde O'Mara, shared the following thoughts...

Both Vanessa and John-Paul are clearly at the beginning of a new phase in their journeys, and because of that, so are the rest of us beginning something new, yet in keeping with what has gone before. At this time of transition, then let each of us pray for the faith to follow where we are being called, for the courage to respond to new situations, new relationships and new experiences in the assurance that Divine Providence has chosen to be Emmanuel: God with us.

The Pope underlined that this is God's plan: “to form a people blessed by His love and able to bring his blessing to all populations on earth. This project does not change, and is always in process. It found its culmination in Christ, and God continues to carry it out in the Church to this day. Let us then ask the grace to remain faithful in following the Lord Jesus and in listening to His Word, ready to set out every day, like Abraham, towards the land of God and man, our true homeland, and thus to become a blessing and sign of God's love for all His children.”

He added, “I like to think that a synonym, another way we could describe Christians is this: we are men and women, we are people who bless. The Christian, through his life, should always bless, should bless God and others. We Christians are people who bless, who know how to bless. It is a beautiful vocation.” (VIS, June 18, 2014)
