"Canadian Nuns are safe - and determined to stay"

We thought you might like to read this article about our friend Sr. Mary Alban Bouchard (who hosted our peace and mediation workshop in June). She lost her home in the Haiti earthquake, but is staying to help the refugees: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/canadian-nuns-are-safe---and-determined-to-stay/article1434572/

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto have a Haiti Fund and 100% of the contributions go to Haiti. If you would like to contribute please make out a cheque to the “Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto” writing “Haiti Relief Fund” in the memo line.  Please include your full name and mailing address so that a tax receipt can be mailed to you. Please mail your cheque to: Attn: Sr. Thérèse Meunier, 3377 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON, M2M 3S4

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti in this devastating time.  We ask you to join us in prayer:

Out of our depths we cry to You, O God. We cry to you for our Haitian sisters and brothers.

We thank You for upholding them in their suffering. Give them continuing strength and comfort.

Give us love and courage to stand with them and work with them as they struggle for life and justice.

We give thanks for our role models of peace: the many Haitian people working to help their neighbours and those who work in solidarity with them including Sr. Rosemary Fry and Sr. Mary Alban Bouchard.  May we have the courage to follow their lead and be people of peace and justice.

Keep us committed to the truth and empower us with Your Spirit of love - a love that always sees possibilities for peace founded on justice … a love that always has hope.

O Lespri Sen desaan sou nou; nou gen youn misyon pou Ayiti.
(O Holy Spirit descend on us; we have a mission for Haiti.)
