Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - January 18-25

Week of Prayer For Christian Unity

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the week of Prayer for Christian Unity with the theme “Pray without Ceasing.” The theme was chosen from St. Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians. Paul was trying to help this community grow in unity.

From January 18th – 25th 2008 please add your voice to the prayers for Christian unity by:

1. Joining in an Ecumenical Prayer Service being held at St. Paul’s Basilica on Sunday January 20, 2008. For more info click here:

2. Praying your own prayer or the prayer below:

Jesus in this week of Christian Unity help me to rejoice in your diverse body.
I know that you too prayed for Christian Unity
“Father, that they may all be one; as they are in me and I am in You” (John 17:21).

It can be difficult sometimes to imagine what true Christian Unity might look like.
But when I am feeling discouraged Jesus help me to remember
“For God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

Holy Spirit please guide us,
That we may be Christians of reconciled diversity -
Christians of unity.
