The Newman Centre, at the heart of the University of Toronto, was the perfect venue for the Tap on Tour event held on November 13th, as it was both easy and welcoming.
For the topic, Choosing Life-In All Its Meaning, we were graced by the Sisters of Life; Sr. Antoniana, Sr. Clare, & Sr. Monica, who have vowed to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life.
Attendees quickly felt at home and toured some of the rooms of the well-preserved Victorian house before the talk began. Food and drinks were readily available the atmosphere was lively as many young adults mixed.
Recent transplants to Toronto from New York, the three Sisters of Life were enthusiastic to connect with the young adults. The young Sisters made quite an impact in their elegant full habits with their warm personalities, as well as their openness to all those who attended the event.
Sister Antoniana, spoke of the need to cultivate a ‘Culture of Life’ and gave accounts of the struggles faced by women and men dealing with abortion. Sr. Antoniana also explained how it is important to “build a culture of life around a woman who is pregnant.”
She recalled a number of moving and inspirational stories about the women and men who were assisted in their times of crisis by the Sisters of Life.
A lot of the work done by the Sisters of Life is nurturing pregnant mothers through community and care as well as journeying with those who have suffered abortion and who may be in a spiritual crisis as a result.
Sister Antioniana also explained how reverence for God is directly related to the preservation of all life; all life is God’s own creation and a reflection of His love.
