Advent Prayers : Week II

Advent Wreath Prayer

Loving God, bless this advent wreath.

May its ever-greenness be a sign of life and of light in the midst of the darkness of Winter. May the candles that burn brightly upon it remind us of Your Son, Jesus, who is the light of the world.

As we light each of these candles this Advent, may we rekindle within ourselves the desire to prepare the way for the birth of Christ.

Week 2

We pray that the richness of God’s blessing rests upon this Advent wreath, upon our home and upon each of us. As we light this second candle – a candle of Hope in God’s ever deepening presence among us.

The second candle is lit.

May this brightness of this flame of hope push back the darkness that blinds us to the fresh paths opening before us.

Reflection Time - Reflect and pray:
What is the meaning of Hope in your life? How does your experience of Hope influence your personal growth and your relationships with others?

We pray that the flame of God’s Hope burn in our hearts; hope that each child will know love, will grow in wisdom, age and grace as did the Child Jesus.

We make our prayer in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
